Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vahit MUTLU

Dr. Vahit Mutlu studied medicine at Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine, completing one year of English preparatory education followed by six years of medical training. He began his medical career in 2013 as a general practitioner at Mengücek Gazi Training and Research Hospital in Erzincan, where he states that he provided care for more than 44,000 patient visits over approximately two years.

In 2015, he returned to Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine to begin specialty training in General Surgery. During more than five years of residency, he participated in over 2,000 surgical cases and developed particular interests in gastrointestinal, hepatopancreatobiliary and bariatric surgery. After liver transplantation was re-established at the university in 2019, he participated in approximately 40 organ harvesting procedures and around 20 cadaveric transplant procedures. His specialty thesis focused on bariatric surgery.

From 2020 to 2023, he worked as a General Surgery Specialist at Tokat State Hospital, performing advanced and minimally invasive procedures, including bariatric, gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary and oncologic surgery. His professional biography reports experience in more than 1,000 bariatric procedures and over 3,000 laparoscopic abdominal operations. He subsequently continued his clinical career at Memorial Ataşehir Hospital in Istanbul and his academic career as a faculty member at Üsküdar University.

Alongside clinical practice, he has contributed to national and international scientific publications, oral and poster presentations, book chapters and editorial work. His recent academic work has included bariatric and oncologic surgery. He continues to participate in scientific congresses, courses and seminars, and describes international patient care and health tourism as an important component of his current professional practice.
